Abstract

Biotech soybeans called Roundup Ready (RR) are tolerant to the lethal effects of glyphosate herbicides, so traditional desiccation options are not sufficient to manage these plants. The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of herbicide interaction in the control of RR soybean plants and the selectivity in the maize crop. The experiment was conducted in a completely randomized design, in a greenhouse with soybean (RR) and corn plants. The treatments consisted of the combination of the herbicides glyphosate and two atrazine in different doses. The herbicides were applied to soybean seedlings at the phenological stage V1, V2 and V3 and in corn seedlings at the V3 stage. The mixture of glyphosate and atrazine provided control of voluntary soybean RR in the three evaluated stages and development of corn compatible with the control. When the objective is just control of the voluntary soy RR it is necessary the addition of glyphosate to atrazine. The use of the lowest recommended dose of the Proof® and Primóleo® products efficiently control RR volunteer soybean plants in maize.
